Congratulations to Abigail Gosselink, the 2022 recipient of the Harold Snyder Fellowship, a special award dedicated to honoring the life and legacy of Au Sable’s Founder, Dr. Harold Snyder. The Harold Snyder Fellowship provides a US $3,000 award to a student who shares the values of Dr. Harold Snyder in the care of God’s creation, combined with exceptional academic ability and a passion for science teaching as part of their career goals.
“I aspire to use my career to serve the Lord by restoring habitats, taking care of animals, and informing people about His hand that is easily seen through Creation. I want people to be able to look at nature and be full of awe at who the Creator is.”
Abigail is completing her second year at Cedarville University in Cedarville, Ohio, where she is an Environmental Science Major while minoring in Bible. She will be spending her entire summer at Au Sable’s beautiful Great Lakes Campus, taking four courses over May, Summer Session I and Summer Session II.
In her application for the Snyder Fellowship, Abigail wrote, “Ever since I was a child, I have found that time in nature is where I feel the Lord’s presence the most. It is in these quiet moments that I see how majestic our God is, which has motivated me to develop a deep desire to take care of His world as a way of worship.” She added, “I aspire to use my career to serve the Lord by restoring habitats, taking care of animals, and informing people about His hand that is easily seen through Creation. I want people to be able to look at nature and be full of awe at who the Creator is.”
Abby, congratulations on being named the 2022 Harold Snyder Fellow! We’re honored to have you with us this year!
