As we slowly emerge from the pandemic, we will begin establishing new habits and practices during our daily lives. These everyday practices form us into the kind of people we want to be—or they deform us, pulling us away from our true identity in Christ and our God-given vocations. You might call our everyday habits liturgies. Liturgies are the things we do that shape our “way-of-being-in-the-world.”
We have written a workbook for our college students this summer that focuses on five liturgies of restoration, as well as the counter-liturgies that our culture offers us. The workbook will explore how our habits shape our character and inform the larger stories we tell ourselves. It will also identify practices that reinforce our identity as God’s people of restoration, in addition to practices that distract us from or undermine our purpose.
We will let you know when the workbook is complete and printed. While it is written for students studying with us this summer, we are hopeful that it will be utilized by the broader Au Sable community as a resource to worship God and serve, protect, and restore God’s good earth.
