Join us this July 1-8 for our annual Butterfly Day 5K! This year's race has gone virtual, which means that anyone, anywhere in the world can participate. YOU, your family, and your friends can all partake by completing a 5K run/walk/bike/paddle anytime during the first week of July (July 1 - 8). This is a great opportunity to get outside in God’s creation and at the same time improve your personal health and fitness. The $20 registration fee will be dedicated to our work with local elementary school students, ensuring that these youngsters learn to understand and appreciated the natural world. Your support and involvement is critical because our spring K-12 programming was cancelled due to COVID-19 and we lost nearly all of our usual program support. We would really, really LOVE it and APPRECIATE it if you would choose to participate!

All participants will receive a custom Butterfly Day 5K bib and a special participation medal made of wildflower seeds that you can hang right beside your most cherished trophies or just as easily plant in the garden and be rewarded with some beautiful flowers. Everybody wins!
The event costs $20 and all event proceeds will support Au Sable’s service to K-12 schools. In 2019, we planted over 5,000 native plants with local fifth grade students as part of habitat restoration projects throughout northern Michigan. Your participation will ensure that we can keep serving these students and continue to serve, protect and restore God’s earth. The deadline to register is Saturday, June 20.
Participating in a virtual 5K is easy, flexible and fun. During the first week of July, you chart out a safe 3.1 mile course and complete it wherever you are, whenever you can, however you want. You will be encouraged to share your results and photos with us and others through social media. When you post to social media, please tag @ausableinstitute so we can share pics on our social media platforms!
