Congratulations to Lukas Fisher, the 2024 recipient of the Harold Snyder Fellowship, a special award dedicated to honoring the life and legacy of Au Sable’s Founder, Dr. Harold Snyder. The Harold Snyder Fellowship provides a US $3,000 award to a student who shares the values of Dr. Harold Snyder in the care of God’s creation, combined with exceptional academic ability and a passion for science teaching as part of their career goals.

Lukas is completing his second year at Cornerstone University in Grand Rapids, Michigan, where he is studying wildlife biology. He will be spending five weeks at Au Sable’s beautiful Great Lakes Campus, during Summer Session I.

In his application for the Snyder Fellowship, Lukas wrote “I have always enjoyed teaching people about the outdoors and taking people camping, similar to Harold Snyder, so I am very excited to be able to experience what he created at the Au Sable Institute and learn more about God's Creation as well as how I can use what I learn in my future career path as an act of worshiping God.”
