The Au Sable Institute is thrilled to announce a $10,000 grant from the Grand Traverse Regional Community Foundation in support of its Restoration Ecology for Young Students (REYS) program. This generous funding will enhance the Institute's ability to partner with local schools to restore vital habitats and foster environmental stewardship among young learners.
The REYS program engages students in hands-on ecological restoration projects, giving them the opportunity to directly participate in the rehabilitation of local ecosystems. By restoring habitats and learning the science behind it, students are equipped to understand and care for the natural environments in their own communities.
"We are incredibly grateful to the Grand Traverse Regional Community Foundation for their support," said Jon Terry, Executive Director of Au Sable Institute. "This grant will allow us to expand our work with schools and inspire the next generation of environmental stewards who will make a lasting impact on their home places."
