A statement from Dave Lamb, Chairman, Au Sable Institute Board of Trustees:
“The Au Sable Institute inspires and educates people to serve, protect, and restore God's earth. Over the past decade, and under the leadership of Dr. Fred Van Dyke, the Institute has flourished in the advancement of this mission. Like many organizations, the Au Sable Institute is adjusting to the profound challenges brought about by the novel coronavirus and COVID-19. Much of the work of the Au Sable Institute is carried out through educational endeavors, and the closing of schools, and restrictions on travel have brought a major disruption to the Institute’s educational programs. After careful and prayerful deliberation, the Trustees have initiated a reduction and restructuring of the Institute’s staff. The position of Executive Director will no longer be a full-time position, and Dr. Van Dyke will finish his tenure as Executive Director on June 26, 2020. The Trustees are appointing Jon Terry, Director of Community Development and Alumni Relations, to serve as the Acting Executive Director of the Au Sable Institute in addition to his present responsibilities. We wish to express our deep gratitude to Dr. Van Dyke, and plans are being made to honor him and his many accomplishments at a recognition event to coincide with the Academic Council meeting this September. We invite your continued prayers for—and support of—the Au Sable Institute, and our staff, as we continue forward in the many opportunities of furthering our mission.”
