Dr. Heath Garris

Dr. Garris teaches Field Technique in Wetlands at the Great Lakes Campus during Summer Session I. Heath is Au Sable’s Director of College Programs. Heath holds a Ph.D. in Integrated Bioscience from the University of Akron and worked with the mining industry on remediation efforts following the 2014 Mount Polley tailings impoundment failure before serving on the Biology Faculty at Covenant College for 7 years. He has taught field courses in Ecology, Botany, Conservation and Environmental Science, and his research interests include community/vegetation ecology and wetland restoration/management.
