Special Events

Au Sable hosts special events for the Grand Traverse Bay community to learn more about the unique ecology of northern Michigan and how we can best care for it.  Check back often for information on special events and how to get involved.

Calling all volunteers and river stewards!!! Au Sable’s volunteer stream monitoring program needs you!  Help us collect information on the health of the Manistee River and it’s tributaries.  Join us for one or both of the days below:

Stream Leader Training Day: September 25th, 9am – 3pm

Volunteers interested in taking on a leadership role should attend this full day training that will introduce participants to our stream monitoring protocol.  Gain background on aquatic insect identification and monitoring procedures as you become certified to lead your own volunteer team on collection day.  No previous experience necessary and no commitment required.  Training will consist of classroom and field experience.  Interested participants MUST RSVP.  Contact Project Manager, Paul Wiemerslage (phone 231-587-8686 or email .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address)).

Collection Day: September 30th, 9am – 12 pm

Join one of our stream teams and help us collect important water quality data on the Manistee River.  Volunteers will gather at Au Sable and depart in teams to conduct stream surveys.  Everyone is invited to participate in this important event.  No previous experience is required.   Interested participants MUST RSVP.  Contact Project Manager, Paul Wiemerslage (phone 231-587-8686 or email .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address))
