Environmental Education Fund

In 2011, on the occasion of Trish Fagg's retirement, Au Sable had the opportunity to celebrate her vision, passion, teaching acumen, mentorship, and example. Trish Fagg created and led the program for over 34 years, making it one of the premier environmental education programs throughout the Grand Traverse Bay Region. In Trish’s role as coordinator, she provided environmental education for over 120,000 K-12 students and trained 230 interns. These programs offer students a unique and important opportunity in their learning life, giving them the eyes to see, ears to hear, courage to explore, wonder to behold, and sensibilities to steward the natural world both now and for the rest of their lives.

To continue critical environmental education for our children, Au Sable established an Environmental Education Fund to ensure that this important work endures. This fund will:

  • Provide scholarships for local school children
  • Train future environmental education leaders
  • Expand short-term residential programs
  • Ensure creation of new curriculum
  • Supply scientific and educational materials.

The Environmental Education Fund will continue Au Sable’s goal to protect our shared future by teaching students to love and care for the natural world around them. With your help, we can make this possible.
