Prairie Restoration

Pacific Rim

Smith Prairie Reserve is located on Whidbey Island, within the Ebey's Landing Historical Reserve a few miles southeast of historic Coupeville, Washington. It is the land once known locally as the State Game Farm, which was used for many years as a place for raising small game birds. This wider area within Ebey's Landing was identified historically as one of the "prairies", originally owned by the Smith family. The purchased site consists of 175 acres with Douglas fir forest covering the north 35 acres, a remnant glacial outwash prairie of 3.5 acres, many acres of domestic grassy fields, and a homestead with several outbuildings and two residences. It is within minutes of Penn Cove and the Keystone Ferry Landing at Admiralty Bay.
