Support for Environmental Education
Grand Traverse Regional Community Foundation's Land Use and Conservation Planning Fund Awards Au Sable Grant
Au Sable Institute was awarded $4,000 by the Land Use and Conservation Planning Fund within the Grand Traverse Regional Community Foundation to purchase equipment for Au Sable's environmental education program. These funds purchased high quality microscopes, soil borers, and plankton nets. This grant enabled us to purchase important equipment which normally would be forever out of our reach financially. This is a tremendous support to the environmental education program.

We would like to thank our donors.

Of special note… we would like to thank ANR Storage for underwriting the program for all the fourth grade students at Birch Street Elementary of Kalkaska Public Schools.

If you would like to add your support to the environmental education program, you may send your gift directly to: Au Sable Institute, 7526 Sunset Trail, NE, Mancelona, MI 49659. Please designate your gift for the Community School Program by either enclosing a note or making a notation on the - memo line of your check. Au Sable Institute is a 501(c)3 non-profit educational organization. Your gifts are tax deductible.

Ever wonder how the environmental education program is funded? One third of our budget is covered by fees paid by the participants in the program. Another third is covered by our endowment. The last third is covered by gifts from individual donors and from grants. This makes gifts from individuals very important especially as we look to expand our services to more children in our region.
