Setting
Au Sable Institute is located in an aspen and pine forest on the shores of a pristine oligotrophic lake. Nestled within the woods is a pond with an active beaver colony and a flock of Canada geese. Supporting our field-oriented programs are a number of classrooms. Our glass walled dining hall looks out on the surrounding forest. In addition to our own trails, which meander through a variety of habitats, our trails extend to the State forest that surrounds us.
