Program Fees
Programs at Au Sable-Great Lakes costs $7.50 per student* There is no charge for the teacher.
*Au Sable Institute underwrites the cost of the environmental education program (over $20 per student). Gifts, grants, and an endowment cover most of our program's costs.

Number of Students
We can accommodate a maximum of 60 students per day. We have six instructors on staff. Group sizes are usually 8 - 10 students to one instructor. There is minimum of 10 students. (The Michigan history program has a minimum of 20 students.)
Students should bring their own lunch. Because of the emphasis on field studies, students should come prepared to be outside.

Program Length
We would like to have four hours of instruction time plus thirty minutes for lunch. Usually classes arrive at 9:30 and leave at 2:00. However, we can change these times to meet your needs.

What to Wear
Students should come prepared to be outside. We will go out even if it is gently raining. We are blessed at Au Sable by not having poison ivy or many mosquitos. However, for the few mosquitos that do show up on warm spring days we recommend long pants and long sleeves. This is a much better protection against mosquitos than insect repellent.

Chaperones
There is no charge for chaperones. Please limit the number of chaperones to ONE* adult per study group. Each class will be divided up into study groups of 8 to 10 students.

Example: A class of 24 students would be divided into three study groups. You would need three chaperons. (two parents plus the classroom teacher).

Chaperones should not bring their other children. Please no pre-schoolers.
*An exception in the number of chaperones is made for those classes coming in cars.
