University of Minnesota, 1979, B.S. Veterinary Science (undergrad three years at UW-River Falls, with chemistry and animal science majors) 180 Parker Road Biography/Interests I am a native of Wisconsin, and have lived and worked in Minnesota, Arkansas, Thailand (twice!) and Peru. I grew up in a rural community where my father was a country doctor, which gave me many insights to servant leadership at an early age. I have spent most of my professional life as a veterinarian, working in international animal health and welfare training and programs, and helping set up veterinary services in countries such as Nicaragua, Laos, the Philippines and Indonesia. I have also helped local organizations and individuals create and develop programs and institutions focused on environmental stewardship. My faith has been duly tested and has also grown stronger because of many of these challenging situations around the world. Helping equip students and recent graduates to find practical opportunities to gain knowledge and skills in these fields, is a real joy. As is speaking on the topics of international animal health, grassroots development, environmental stewardship and other subjects, around the country and the world. Selected Publications/Presentations "Veterinary Services in Response to Disasters in Developing Countries" - AVMA Symposium on `Veterinary Medical Assistance in Times of Disaster'; 128th Annual AVMA Meeting; Seattle, Washington; July 1991. |
