Biography/Interests
Bob was born and raised in southeastern Pennsylvania, and graduated from Taylor University in Indiana with a B.A. in Biology. He attended Au Sable in 1967 as an undergraduate when Au Sable was Taylor University's field station. After graduating from college in 1968, Bob served as an officer in the USMC and went to graduate school at California State University, Long Beach and at Mankato State University in Minnesota. He then returned to Taylor University where he worked for four years as a residence hall director. He spent his summers directing Au Sable's resident boys summer camp and wilderness camps. It was during his time at Taylor that Becky became his wife.

In 1977, Bob and Becky moved to Au Sable to direct the camp programs and develop year-round activities. He assumed his present duties in 1980 when the Institute was formed. Bob has two children, Rachel and David whose careers at Au Sable have included staff kids, summer and full time staff, summer student and intern.

Bob enjoys cross country skiing, mountain biking and white water
kayaking. He is EMT and fire chief of the Blue Lake Township Fire department - "We'll save your lot." He is active in his church serving as an elder and Sunday School teacher.
